The Dead Spot...

A while back I realized that my phone was not working properly.  When I would touch certain parts of its screen to activate an app, there would be no response.  I found that curious, but never once thought that there could be a problem with the phone itself.  I actually thought that it had something to do with my fingers (oh, don't even try, it would take forever to get to the bottom of that one 😉).

Then one day, I dropped the phone and the problem worsened.  That is when I finally decided to take it to the store to get it looked at - after all it was about time I cashed in on my monthly insurance payments, right?

Well, after checking out the phone for a few minutes the service technician informed me that I had a 'dead spot' on my screen.  A dead who ??? 😟 Truthfully, I still don't know exactly what that meant, except it was the reason why the applications would not respond when I tried to open them, etc.  I asked her if it had anything to do with the fact that I had dropped the phone (now what was I thinking telling her about dropping the phone?).  Thankfully, she said, 'no'.  Phew.

When I got back from the store, I kept thinking about the fact that I would never have thought to take the phone in had I not dropped it and thought the problem could be connected to that fall, and maybe a few others before it (don't judge 😊).  In other words, I would just have settled for trying out all my fingers to see which one the screen would respond to, not realizing that I was dealing with a problem beyond my control, a problem that needed an expert's touch, a solvable problem nonetheless.

It was while I musing over this that GOD opened my eyes to an even bigger truth - sometimes when we experience a fall, a failure, a setback in our lives, it may be that it happened in order to reveal a 'dead spot' in our lives - a part of our lives that needed healing, repairs, an EXPERT's touch; a 'dead spot' we would totally have missed

It brought to mind Psalm 119:71 (NIV, biblegateway.com),

It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees

So the next time we experience a 'fall', it might help to ask GOD what 'dead spot' HE may be trying to reveal to us, and then allow the GREAT REPAIRMAN Himself to put us back in order.

Therefore, do not worry about 'breaking when you fall', my Friend, GOD's got You 😇.

Be Blessed 🙏.

Hitting The Backboard

In high school, many moons ago, someone erroneously thought that my height equaled me being remotely athletic 😃, and so I was drafted to participate in a number of sports, including basketball.  It did not take too long, however, for it to be evident that appearances can be deceptive 😊.  Even though my relationship with basketball was very short-lived, I have to say I enjoyed playing, because it was the only sport I was not totally horrible at, and my height did come in handy.  One advice from that time that our teacher/coach gave us, has stayed with me through these years - aim for the backboard.  Why? Because it helps to guide the ball into the basketball hoop.

Now, in this era of slam dunks and all manner of interesting moves, I do not see many basketball players using the backboard.  However, I was watching an old movie about basketball players, and one of the characters kept hitting the ball against the backboard to help him make his shots.  It took me back to high school, and to my basketball-player-wannabe days 😉.

As I was trudging down memory lane, GOD stepped in to teach me an important lesson - just as hitting a basketball against the backboard helps to guide it into the hoop, sometimes when we find ourselves being 'thrown against some hard place or situation', it may be, it is to help guide us into our basketball hoop (Our Goal, Our Destiny, Our Purpose, Our Future, or Our 'Expected End').

While those times rarely feel good, we can rest in GOD's promise in Jeremiah 29:10,11,

This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place.  For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (NIV, biblegateway.com).

So, keep bouncing, my Friend, HE's got Your back 😊.

Be Blessed 🙏.

Welcome!!!

Hello Everyone:

Welcome to my blog, Through the Mundane. I am excited to have you join me.

I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and a child of the Most High GOD.  Since the Lord saved me, HE has taken me on a very interesting journey, made a little arduous, sometimes, by my own stubbornness and disobedience :(.

One of the things that has been a thrill for me, however, is how HE uses everyday occurrences to teach me lessons that reinforce HIS Word to me, and show HIS love for me; and these are what I seek to share with you through my blog, as well as, other things I may be led to write.

I look forward to embarking on this journey with you. I pray that these lessons will be a blessing to you, as they have been to me.

Do remember, no matter what, don't forget to SMILE...because GOD LOVES YOU!!!!
