Hitting The Backboard

In high school, many moons ago, someone erroneously thought that my height equaled me being remotely athletic 😃, and so I was drafted to participate in a number of sports, including basketball.  It did not take too long, however, for it to be evident that appearances can be deceptive 😊.  Even though my relationship with basketball was very short-lived, I have to say I enjoyed playing, because it was the only sport I was not totally horrible at, and my height did come in handy.  One advice from that time that our teacher/coach gave us, has stayed with me through these years - aim for the backboard.  Why? Because it helps to guide the ball into the basketball hoop.

Now, in this era of slam dunks and all manner of interesting moves, I do not see many basketball players using the backboard.  However, I was watching an old movie about basketball players, and one of the characters kept hitting the ball against the backboard to help him make his shots.  It took me back to high school, and to my basketball-player-wannabe days 😉.

As I was trudging down memory lane, GOD stepped in to teach me an important lesson - just as hitting a basketball against the backboard helps to guide it into the hoop, sometimes when we find ourselves being 'thrown against some hard place or situation', it may be, it is to help guide us into our basketball hoop (Our Goal, Our Destiny, Our Purpose, Our Future, or Our 'Expected End').

While those times rarely feel good, we can rest in GOD's promise in Jeremiah 29:10,11,

This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place.  For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (NIV, biblegateway.com).

So, keep bouncing, my Friend, HE's got Your back 😊.

Be Blessed 🙏.
